We are living in historic times and, appropriately, JAG and TLeake have brought in the big guns to kick off the first show of this historic series. As their first guest ever on the show, they have invited former 4 Star Chief, NYPD, Joseph Leake to discuss what it might take to fix the relationship between the Black Community and Police. Listen as JAG challenges and TLeake probes our guest and his 30+ years experience with the NYPD on the rift between the two and if it can be healed. Against the backdrop of COVID-19, an installment of No Stupid Questions Show that looks more broadly at the world we are living in. Jag and TLeake discuss alternative realities (and truths) and ponder the question of whether we live in a "post-fact" world and if that is an ugly pimple on the face of society that needs to be popped. Motivated by the nightmare of the potential havoc caused by disbelief of or disregard for facts, with the help of a few insights from Malcolm Gladwell's books, Jag and TLeake opine on where we are, how we got there, how it has (or has not?) changed over time AND offer actions we can take to wake up from the nightmare with a clear face. The reference was to the National Urban League annual State of Black America® report which includes the Equality Index™, a quantitative tool for tracking racial equality in America. The Equality Index appears biannually, the next scheduled for 2020.
